High up in the Usambara mountains lies the Irente farm lodge. Thanks to the initiative of these people, blind and disabled children from this region can go to school.
The school of the blind in Irente belongs to the north eastern diocese of the evangelical Lutheran church of Tanzania (ned elct) and is financed by profits generated by the Irente farm lodge.
Students with visual impairments are trained at the school according to their specific needs and prepared for a life in society.
