With the existing borehole and a SuMeWa water disinfection system, the village and the two schools are to be supplied with clean and safe drinking water, even in the dry season.
The borehole is constructed by the local population, which means that the waterkiosk foundation turns those affected into participants.
The water is pumped from the existing well to a nearby hill using a solar pump.
From there, the water is distributed by gravity via a 1.5 km long path to the villages of Mambarare (phase 1) and via a 1.9 km long pipeline to the village of Mawingwini with the Kamani elementary school (phase 2).
In a further expansion phase, the secondary school will also be connected.
