Teofilo Kisanji University (TEKU) was established in 2006 and is a fully registered private higher education institution with the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). It is owned by the Moravian Church in Tanzania and is governed by the Board of Trustees as provided for in the University Charter and the Trusteeship Rules in accordance with the Universities Act No. 7, 2005.
TEKU has its own water supply. The sources for this are three boreholes (approx. 10 metres deep) that were drilled with little effort. From these, the water is pumped into various elevated tanks. From here it is channelled into the extensive water supply network.
