The Energy City Gold St.Gallen participates in the international “Blue Community” initiative. Blue Communities recognize the human right to water. They pay attention to the sustainable use of water and are committed to ensuring that the supply and use of water remain in the public domain.

Blue Communities strives to use drinking water responsibly within its own structures and operational processes and uses drinking water from the public water supply as far as possible. Drinking local, non-bottled and non-transported water protects the environment.

With its ongoing participation in the “Blue Community”, the City of St.Gallen not only reaffirms its commitment to the human right to water, but also demonstrates its willingness to take a pioneering role in sustainable water supply and environmental awareness. This commitment not only strengthens the local community, but also contributes to global efforts for a sustainable water policy.

Tareno AG was founded in 2000 as a private limited company and is owned by three active partners. With around 40 employees and client assets under management of approximately CHF 2.5 billion, the asset management company is one of the 15 largest of its kind in Switzerland. In 2020 and 2023, we were named Best Swiss Asset Manager of the Year by BILANZ.

In 2007, Tareno launched the Tareno Global Water Solutions Fund one of the pioneers in the investment theme of water. The boutique fund takes a model-based investment approach and focuses on the systematic integration of sustainability criteria. The fund has received several awards for its performance as well as its sustainability strategy. The Tareno Global Water Solutions Fund focuses exclusively on businesses that contribute to the achievement of SDG 6 “Clean Water and Sanitation.” However, the fund’s team also wants to show direct commitment to the environment and has launched an Impact share class of the Waterfund for this purpose. In this class, a total of 25% of the management fee flows into charitable projects that provide people in developing countries with access to clean drinking water.

The Däster-Schild Foundation (Fund B) exclusively supports organizations registered in Switzerland with an international focus in the areas of international development cooperation and humanitarian emergency aid (e.g. in the event of natural disasters and war).
The Board of Trustees bases its support on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The topics of poverty, illiteracy, hunger and disease formulated in the foundation’s purpose are interpreted and implemented against the background of current findings and impact strategies of international cooperation. For example, poverty and the climate crisis are now linked in a way that was not recognizable twenty years ago. The Board of Trustees considers it its duty to take these connections into account when making decisions in order to maximize the Foundation’s impact.

DRINK & DONATE is a non-profit association that stands for “Drink tap water, donate drinking water”.

This association promotes the consumption of our excellent tap water instead of branded water transported by road.

With tap water concepts specially developed for restaurants, hotels, companies and concert organizers, DRINK & DONATE generates donations that are used entirely for the construction of drinking water projects.
